IoTSF + TechWorks – Resilient IoT and Trustworthy AI Conferences

Adam Finney – CHERI Alliance

30 October 2025, London – Event Recap

The IoT Security Foundation (IoTSF) and TechWorks AI held their annual Resilient IoT and Trustworthy AI Conference on Thursday 30 October 2025 at the IET, Savoy Place, London. Delegates from industry, academia and government gathered to explore the evolving challenges of securing intelligent and connected systems.

Arm began the day with a keynote focusing on the role of modern hardware in addressing new security demands, referencing ongoing work around CHERI and the Morello prototype. Afterwards, Professor Simon Moore from the University of Cambridge provided insights into capability-based architectures as a foundation for building safer systems. Later in the programme, David Chisnall of SCI Semiconductor discussed how these ideas are being applied in practical IoT deployments.

Siemens EDA was an event sponsor, highlighting the increasing industry focus on secure-by-design approaches in hardware and development toolchains. SCI Semiconductor also exhibited, reflecting growing commercial interest in CHERI-enabled architectures.

The CHERI Alliance was present at the conference, along with several of its founding members like Codasip, lowRISC and other contributors from the wider CHERI community. Throughout the day they engaged with attendees, highlighted the work of member organisations, and discussed recent developments in capability-based security.

It was encouraging to see growing awareness of CHERI-enabled architectures and strong interest from delegates in collaborating on more robust and secure system designs. The constructive conversations around capability-based approaches underscored an appetite for technologies that can strengthen the foundation of IoT and AI platforms from the ground up.

Sessions throughout the event addressed hardware trust anchors, supply-chain security, evolving regulation and the rising intersection of IoT and AI. A shared view across discussions was that system-level security must be designed into platforms from the start rather than added as an afterthought.

The event was co-hosted by IoTSF and TechWorks at the IET in London, with support from speakers, exhibitors and contributors across the IoT and cybersecurity community.
